Challenge 264:
SUMMER VACATION
Ah, summer! It’s a good time for a nice vacation, a break from school, work, or our heroes’ usual adventures. Maybe there’s a traditional holiday or festival to attend, or maybe it’s just an excuse to go to the beach, or camping, or just stay home and relax.

But sometimes things don’t always go to plan! Maybe it’s a hundred degrees the entire week, or maybe it won’t stop raining. Maybe the adventure follows our heroes to the beach, and now instead of relaxing they’re right back on the job. Maybe they just picked a vacation that involves several million mosquitoes.

Write a story about summer vacation.

BONUS GOAL: “What are we going to do today?”

If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, June 30 at 9:00PM EST.
• Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile

List of entries )

Please Note: Because we only have 4 entries this week, there is only a First Place and Runner Up to vote for!

In order to vote, please reply to this post using the form provided. All comments are screened, and entries are listed in the order they were submitted. Meeting the bonus goal on an entry gets an extra point for that submission.

When voting, please copy/paste the ENTRY NUMBER and the FIC TITLE from the list above into the spot you're voting for (this prevents accidentally mis-numbering a vote and casting it for the wrong entry). It should look like this:

First Place: 61. Fic Title Here
Runner Up: 88. Another Fic Title

Please note that you cannot vote for your own entry, and that votes cannot be made anonymously. You do not have to be a member of the community in order to vote, nor have submitted an entry for this week; everyone is welcome to participate in the voting. [#263 | Genius] Challenge Post

fanweeklymod: (Default)
[personal profile] fanweeklymod posting in [community profile] fandomweekly
Challenge 263:
GENIUS
Some characters are smart. These characters go beyond that.

Whatever their field of expertise is, they’re one of the best – or maybe the best. They solve problems nobody else can, and they make it look easy. Maybe they’re an expert in a record-breaking number of fields, or have more degrees than any human being should have time to acquire; maybe they’re only an expert in one thing, but they’re far, far better than anyone else.

But being a genius comes with drawbacks! Maybe they struggle to make friends, because they’re too focused on academics. Maybe they’re brilliant, but nobody believes them. Maybe all of their expertise has done nothing to prepare them for the new crisis they’ve just been presented with.

Write a story about a genius.

BONUS GOAL: “I can't believe I just said that."

If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, June 23 at 9:00PM EST.
• Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile
• Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 263 – genius
